Asomgyee brings over 17 years of professional teaching experience to the position of Site Director, most recently as Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education department at Capital Community College in Hartford, CT. In 1994 Asomgyee was one of four Fellows awarded full academic scholarship through Project ACCESS to attend Eastern Connecticut State University to study and participate in cutting-edge theories and research in Early Childhood Education and conflict resolution and one of 10 fellows selected from a pool of 500 in the state of Connecticut to teach at the Manchester Community Technical College in Manchester, CT. As a volunteer teacher in Botswana, Africa, he established international links with teachers, civil ministries, civil servants and diplomats from various Southern African nations. He holds a B.A. in Economics and a M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic, CT and is currently a doctoral student in the School of Education at Syracuse University.

As former Youth Health Educator for Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, Nathalie brings a wide range of recruitment, planning and research skills to Say Yes, including her expertise in developing programming and outreach to local youths for the Choices Enhanced Program. Prior to her work at Catholic Charities, Nathalie served as an intern at the Lombardi Center, developing a comprehensive model for assessing and evaluating the cancer disparities among the Latino population in the greater D.C. area. She was also the co-founder and co-facilitator of Cross Cultural Connections, collaborating with the West Side Learning Center, SCSD and Syracuse Police Departments to re-establish a program that promotes communication and mutual respect among Latino youth and police personnel, through cross-cultural and language experiences.Nathalie is a graduate of Syracuse University with a dual major of psychology and international relations, where she was on the Dean’s list, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, received the Chancellor’s Award for Public Service and the Syracuse Community Wide Dialogue to End Racism Racial Justice award.

Janet Quiñones Eatman, Site Director

A bilingual speech and language pathologist for over 16 years, Janet Quiñones Eatman is a published author and frequent lecturer at conferences both nationally and internationally addressing issues of cultural and linguistic diversity in schooling. Her work has included tutoring ESL students and coordinating Spanish as a Second Language programs. She was a Title VII Graduate Fellow of the U.S. Department of Education from 1998-2002, in addition to various other Fellowship awards and honors throughout her career. She holds a B.A. in Speech and Language Pathology from Pace University, a M.A. in Speech and Language Pathology from Temple University and is a Ph.D. candidate in Bilingual Education at the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dawn holds a B.A. in Communications from SUNY Buffalo State College and is pursuing a M.A. in Human Services from Capella University in Minneapolis. MN. She began her career as a teacher in the Prince Georges County School District in Upper Marlboro, MD in 2002, relocated to Syracuse to work as a School Age Teacher for Kids University at the Salvation Army, followed by her most recent position as Senior Transitional Planner for Youth Services for the Center for Community Alternatives.

Prior to her position with Say Yes, Lisa was the Community School Coordinator for the Westside Community School Strategy, where she collaborated with building administrators and pupil services personnel to coordinate school and community supports to meet the needs of students and their families in 5 targeted areas: Health care, mental health services, youth development supports academic intervention services and family supports. She also worked as a resident manager for the Salvation Army and Youth Awareness and Elder Abuse Educator for the Vera House in Syracuse. She is a graduate of SUNY Oswego with a Master of Science in Human Services and Community counseling.

Carole Bildstein, Site Director

Carole Bildstein brings a highly varied background to her responsibilities enabling her to see the big picture. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Valparaiso University and a Masters of Social Work with concentration in management from SUNY Albany. A couple of her more recent continuing learning experiences include being graduate of Ahern & Murphy Leadership Development and Citizens Academy of Syracuse. Her career began with numerous social work positions from hands-on to research and from focus on national issues to the local neighborhood. Then her career took her into business ownership, business to business sales, and membership management at the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce where she developed her skill and reputation as a consummate networker. This networking expertise enables her to gather resources from a broad array of community resources to enrich the elementary school experience for students. May 2007 – June 2009, she served as Community School Coordinator at Bellevue Elementary for the West Side Community School Strategy. In 2009, she received the School Partnership Award from Junior Achievement of Central New York.

Ahmeed brings a wide range of skills to his position with Say Yes. As a former counselor, violence prevention educator, career transition specialist, and therapist, Ahmeed has extensive experience in assessing needs and developing programming and response plans to meet those needs, along with his community outreach and background as an educator. He is a graduate of Cheyney University in PA with a BA in Psychology and holds a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University.

Kristi was the former study abroad advisor for the SUNY Cortland Clark Center for International Education prior to joining the Say Yes team, where she managed 14 study abroad programs including participant recruitment and admission, student advisement, new program development, pre-departure orientation, program evaluation and financial administration. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education Administration from Columbia University. She served as a graduate hall director at Barnard College while in NYC and was a Gordon B. & Mary J. Tweedy Intern in the Humanities at Emma Willard School in Troy, NY and housing and student services intern for the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen from 2005-2006.

Sylvia Martinez-Daloia, Site Director

 Prior to her position with Say Yes, Sylvia Martinez-Daloia was director of the Liberty Partnerships Program, a program that helps Syracuse city middle school youth to stay in school and achieve academic and personal success.  She graduated from Syracuse University’s College of Human Development, attended Texas Woman’s University, and is a graduate of the Leadership Greater Syracuse, ‘92. Born in Harlingen, Texas, Ms. Martinez-Daloia moved to Syracuse in 1973. Her work experience includes 12 years with the NYS Assembly and 19 years with Syracuse University. An active participant in the Syracuse Latino community, Ms. Martinez-Daloia is the founder of the Association of Neighbors Concerned for Latino Advancement (ANCLA.)  

She has received numerous awards such as, Governor Cuomo’s Hispanic Outstanding Achievement Award, the Girls Incorporated Cultural Award, and NOW Unsung Heroines Award, and the Westcott Community Center University Neighborhood Award.  She is an active board member of Partners In Learning, Inc. and recently completed her term on the Onondaga County Cornell Cooperative Extension. Past community involvement includes former commissioner of the Onondaga County Syracuse Human Rights Commission for eight years, and is an ex-officio board member of Catholic Charities.

As a former Community School Coordinator for the Westside Community School Strategy, Jermaine collaborated with school building staff, the school district, community leaders, agencies, programs and families to ensure positive intervention and success in the areas of youth development, academic services, health/dental service, mental health services, and family support services. He also led a peer mentoring/tutoring partnership with neighboring elementary school and represented the Westside Strategy and school at meetings and training with district, city/county government officials. He is a graduate of Cornell University and currently working on his Master of Science in Cultural Foundations of Education at Syracuse University.
