2010 Say Yes Summer Festival
Draws Big Crowd!
Approximately 1600 Say Yes to Education summer camp students demonstrated the new skills they learned and talents they developed throughout their 2010 "Say Yes" summer camp experiences at the Say Yes Summer Festival Wednesday, July 28th at Thornden Park. The students' families and friends, Say Yes staff and hundreds of community volunteers and leaders, including Mayor Stephanie Miner, attended the event to show thier support of the students' accomplishments. Mayor Miner addressed the students on the Community Stage, encouraging them to have fun and Say Yes to Education!
Stage performances were ongoing between two stages throughout the day. Each of the 12 schools exhibited their art, science and technology projects in tents that were strewn throughout the park. The SCSD supplied lunch for the children and their families. Community organizations set up information tables for families interested in their services. Clear Channel provided music and face painting acitivites.
It was a beautiful, albeit hot day in Thornden Park but the heat didn't stop the fun! Congratulations to all our Say Yes students for their great work! And to all the Say Yes staff and community volunteers, A BIG THANK YOU for all your hard work to make the Say Yes Summer Festival a HUGE success!
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
